Hradec Králové

In 1895, Hradec officially entered a new era. All modernist architects throughout the Austro-Hungarian Empire were invited to Hradec. Due to the large scale of the initial construction, Hradec had to develop a new plan and was carried out by the architect Josef Gočár.

To preserve the riverside green belt leading into the city, he built a radial external transportation system around the center, in which the residential area interlates with the green space.

The urban planning of Josef Gočár is revolutionary in many respects and has a special construction method. Many urban planners are still inspired by it. His plan also reflected the planning trends of the major cities in the United Kingdom and the United States.
